LAMK Institute of Design
The Learners
Furniture for Habitare exhibition
When you grow up in a family of entrepreneurs and next to a carpentry workshop, you are bound to assume a ton of knowledge, skills, and attitude. Nowadays work is separated from the rest of your life. Future carpenters and designers will not grow up in a factory, as we did. Companies carry a moral obligation to take part in educating the next generations by offering apprenticeships and by supporting student projects. Future carpenters, designers, and engineers must have the possibility to learn on the job. Three generations of Korvenranta family have studied at the Lahti University of Applied Sciences. That’s why LAMK Institute of Design is a natural partner to us. One of our 100-year anniversary projects was to give the design institute’s students the chance to design furniture for the Habitare exhibition. Many ideas sprang from working together, which can be further developed into functioning designs. The best thing is – we all learned a lot.
